I got this for my sister who does stained glass as a hobby and loves flamingos, and wasn't 100% sure on how pale the colors were (or weren't) when ordering it, but this nightlight is SO gorgeous and shiny in real life - the picture doesn't do it justice! The colors are still soft and on the pastel side, not gaudy like a lot of other flamingos, but they are more 'true' and vivid than in the photo. It's sturdy and heavy; you can feel the quality of the craftsmanship just by holding it. It feels strong. Not an expert, but compared to a lot of other stained glass, the soldering is really smooth and even all the way around, and the way they arranged the glass pieces and the direction of the grain makes it look like shading on the wings and in the grass. It's actually three separate layers of glass, with the wing at the front, the body and grass in the middle, and the water in the back; that adds an extra dimension to it. It's really neat!Just be sure to have a spare light bulb on hand because even though they pack it really well in it's own little white box, and even though the stained glass is sturdy, the light bulbs themselves are fragile and can still break while shipping. If all their work looks this nice I'm gonna have to start ordering more stained glass from Juhlin Studio!
