Love this humidifier. So quiet and won't hear it is on. I was running this humidifier for two weeks and see no leaks. I recommend this humidifier.Easy to use. Best humidifier I’ve owned.Update 8-10-21: The light was so bright and the color changing so unnerving between red and the other colors, that one kid refused to use the light, so we had to keep his older broken vicks humidifier for the moon and stars.. Within less than a year both of the humidifiers developed a loud ticking in the motor and one stopped working. The other ticks too loudly for my child to sleep. So currently we have 4 (FOUR) non-working Vick's humidifiers (two are the cool mist Sweet Dreams ones -- they leave tons of white dust around due to our hard water and two are the Starry Night filtered evaporative ones, both with motor issues). I like the idea of lights with a humidifier (obviously, I was taken in twice over by it!), but the product quality is close to 0 for humidifying. Interestingly enough, the lights are working well on all 4 -- a kids night light would be much cheaper. Our humidifier hasn't leaked after 5mo. I was worried about it from all the reviews. I am not sure why there was either a batch that did leak or a lot of user error in fully closing the tank. Regardless, we haven't had a leak yet. Our water is very hard and we first had cool mist humidifiers and white dust everywhere until I learned more about it and bought this evaporative humidifier. I don't love having to use filters, but we bought a cheap pack on Amazon. We use it every night on full blast and go through about 1 filter / mo. They get hard and crunchy and it stops making any mist (although you can't really see the mist anyway, so you just have to trust its there or get a hydrometer.. which I want to do..The main issue I have with the unit is that the color changing lights are so bright and the red makes the room go nearly dim, then another bright light comes up after it. I thought it was one color or maybe two -- it changes every few seconds and about 5 colors I think? Its so annoying that we actually have two humidifiers on the table in my kids room. The Vicks sweet dreams humidifier where the images slowly rotate between three images, and then the starry night humidifier to actually make the humidity. We have picky kids a bit too, but honestly I couldn't sleep with like a nightclub light changing colors all through the night either, especially when it goes dark and then bright.Only reason I am giving it a four-star is because I had just open the box due to the baby coming and I had only started using it for about three days when the water in the tank stop flowing to where it was supposed to it just stays in the tank no matter how long the humidifier is on it will not change levels. If the company could reach out to me to help me troubleshoot I’ve tried different things to try to get the water to flow I would appreciate it. We are outside our return window as we did not open it as soon as we got the product because of waiting for the babyWorks great. I like the white noise, some may not. It’s easy to clean however I haven’t done it yet. Definitely follow instructions on how to maintain the unit. I have used the Vicks liquid in it and I love that. This is our second purchase I’m of this model. We are aware of the polarity in the reviews relating to the leaking. We love it with the major exception of a manageable design flaw in the humidifier: an L shaped dish floods when the reservoir is lowered and wicks the filter. The fan evaporates water from the filter. The problem is that this L shaped dish is tip-top filled. So if you bumpIt or move it, water spills into the bottom shell and is directed out to a hole in the back left corner. So if it needs to be moved, you have to do as I just did: remove the reservoir, remove the filter/wick, carefully pull the vertical plastic piece to lift the L-shaped dish (full of water) and empty it (a dish, the sink, or back into reservoir). Then hold the unit over a receptacle and tilt the unit back left corner down to drain the overspill from doing all of this moving. Once the base is drained, the L-shaped dish (emptied) can be replaced, then the filter/wick, then after placing the unit where you want it, then you can lower the (refilled) reservoir and proceed to using it again. If you never move it, never nudge it, then the L-shaped dish will fill but never overflow or spill and you won’t have to do all this. I imagine if the water reservoir empties the L-shaped dish will evaporate or remain filled to receive the refilled reservoir.(The first leaked an entire reservoir and ruined the veneer on our dresser) but... It’s a really nice, clean, effective unit. We recently purchased our second with me determined to figure out this “leaking”/spilling issue. I’ve got it figured out. I hope we don’t have to move it. If we do, it’s a test of patience. Not sure what would happen if you just plug the hole in the outer base shell, but as long as spilled water doesn’t rise to a level of electronics (or perhaps the front vent where the most comes out), it could be a decent fix.Next version would suggest moving the vent from the square to a strip along the front placed higher up and plug the drainage hole. Worst humidifier EVER!!! We bought this to replace our last starry night Vick’s humidifier which we absolutely loved and lasted 5 years, but after just 4 months it’s already started falling apart. Makes a loud clunking noise and the wires are falling inside of it, interrupting the fan from working properly. Until they make improvements and make it like they used to, don’t buy it!!! Complete waste of money. The vicks doesnt help at all. There is not smell of the vicks. Also the fan motor lost its life within 8months of my purchase. I went back to report my problem the product support window is already closed. I thought it should be at least 2 years manufacturing warranty.Dont get this vicks cool mist it is not worth it. Many defects found in it.
